Another day, another anime update, and today we’re covering a very interesting one.

Well, today we’re going to talk about another upcoming anime—or, more precisely, a romantic anime—and honestly, this one caught my attention because of its title alone.

Well, The Cold Sato-san  Is Sweet Only to Me LN fans, especially manga fans, I have some really great news for you.

The Cold Sato-san Is Sweet Only to Me is finally getting an anime adaptation, and this anime is actually coming very soon.

And when I say very soon, I really mean it.

It isn’t going to come in 2027 or something like that. It has been officially announced with a proper release date, and it’s actually coming on October 6, 2026.

Yep, next month, and it is officially scheduled. 👀

And if you look at the visual and think, “Okay, this already looks like a very sweet rom-com,” then you’re not completely wrong about it.

Or at least, that’s what I get from the information we have so far. 😂

The story follows Koharu Sato, a beautiful girl who is known for being cold toward everyone around her. But Sota Oshio is the one person who gets to see a completely different side of her.

So, yeah.

A girl who is cold to everyone but becomes incredibly sweet to one particular guy.

Yeah, you already know where this is going.

And to be honest, I know it too. 😂

Well, in this blog, we’re going to talk about the anime’s release date, story, studio, trailer, music, and everything we currently know about it.

So, are you ready?

Let’s get into it.

What Is The Cold Sato-san Is Sweet Only to Me About?

Well, let’s talk about it.

What is all this about?

Well, actually, it’s kind of a very simple story.

The story follows Koharu Sato, a beautiful girl who is basically the perfect girl at school, which is kind of typical for the anime we see.

So, yeah.

She doesn’t smile at anyone, doesn’t really show much emotion toward other people, and is known for her cold attitude. She’s basically what we can call an ice princess. 🥶

Because of that, she gets the nickname “Salt-Response Sato-san.”

But then there is Sota Oshio, a boy from the same class, and this is where things get very interesting.

One day, Sota sees Sato-san at his family’s café.

But the Sato-san he sees there is completely different from the girl everyone knows at school.

Instead of being cold and distant, here she is, struggling to take photos of sweets and showing a much more awkward and vulnerable side of herself.

Basically, Sota discovers something about Sato-san that nobody has seen before—or even knows about her.

And she’s not actually cold.

She’s just awkward, kind of shy, and terrible at communicating her feelings.

She wants to talk and express herself, but she’s just really bad at doing it. 😂

And, of course, Sota already has feelings for her.

Why?

Because, I mean, who isn’t going to have feelings for a beautiful girl like that? 😭

The two gradually become closer through taking photos and their shared love of sweets, while both of them struggle with their feelings for each other.

The official description presents it as a youthful romantic comedy about two awkward people whose relationship slowly develops, with the central idea being a mutual crush between the two leads.

So, yeah.

It’s basically:

A cold girl to everyone else.

A sweet girl to him.

That’s literally the title.

The Cold Sato-san Is Sweet Only to Me Anime Release Date and Time

Well, we already talked about what the story is about, so now let’s talk about when it’s actually going to come out—or, more precisely, the release date and broadcast time.

Well, I already mentioned the release date earlier, but now let’s talk about the time.

The answer is finally confirmed.

The TV anime will officially begin broadcasting on October 6, 2026.

And honestly, that is much closer than I expected.

At the time I’m writing this, we’re already well into September. There are only around two weeks left before October arrives.

So, yeah, we don’t have to wait much longer.

We’re finally going to see Sato and Sota come to life in anime form. 👀

Well, let’s talk about the broadcast time.

And now comes the most important question you guys are probably asking:

Is it coming online as well?

Well, yes.

The anime will also have advance streaming on d Anime Store and U-NEXT from October 6 at 10:30 PM JST, with other streaming platforms following afterward.

So, yeah.

October 6, 2026, is finally the day.

Not going to lie, we already have quite a long list of anime coming in October, and now October 6 has one more anime added to the list. 😂

Well, now that we’ve talked about when it’s coming and what time it will air, let’s talk about who is behind the anime and which cast members are bringing these characters to life.

Who Is Making This Anime?

Well, we already talked about the anime itself, the release date, and the broadcast timing.

Now let’s talk about something else.

Who is actually making this anime?

Well, the anime is being produced by Tezuka Productions, a studio that has worked on plenty of different anime projects over the years. And we also have information about the main staff working behind this series.

The director is Fumihiro Yoshimura, who has previously worked on anime such as My Wife Has No Emotion, Dororo, The Quintessential Quintuplets, and Pluto. So, yeah, he already has quite a bit of experience working on different types of anime.

The series composition is being handled by Takashi Aoshima, whose previous work includes The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You, Himouto! Umaru-chan, and Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!. So if you’ve watched any of those, you might already be familiar with his work.

Then we have Daisuke Okushima, who is handling the character designs for the anime.

And the music is being composed by Shun Narita, who has worked on projects including 365 Days to the Wedding, The Girl in Twilight, and Harmony of Mille-Feuille.

Of course, the animation production is being handled by Tezuka Productions, while the original character designs come from A Chiki, who is also responsible for the original character illustrations.

And I think the character animation is especially important here.

Why?

Because this isn’t an action series where we’re waiting for some insane animation sequence or a massive fight scene.

A lot of this anime is going to depend on expressions, small interactions, awkward silences, everyday conversations, and, most importantly, the chemistry between Sato and Sota.

You could even say it’s going to need the kind of animation that makes the romance feel warm and alive rather than just looking pretty on the screen.

And this is something that the director has specifically talked about as well. He mentioned focusing on small emotional movements, facial expressions, and everyday conversations between the characters.

So I’m actually curious to see how all of that translates into the anime.

Because the original work is a romantic comedy, and here, those little moments between the characters are basically the main event.

The Cold Sato-san Is Sweet Only to Me Main PV

Well, yep, we also got the main PV.

And in the main PV, we also got the announcement about when the anime is going to be released.

So, yeah, the main PV was released alongside the September 18 update, together with the second key visual and the announcement of the October 6 premiere date.

And honestly, this is where the anime starts feeling much more real than just a simple announcement.

We’re no longer just looking at a key visual and saying:

“Yep, it’s getting an anime… but when?” 😂

Now we actually have animated footage, and that’s a completely different feeling.

From what we’ve seen so far, the anime is leaning heavily into the romance and comedy side, which actually makes perfect sense because that’s basically what the whole story is about.

It’s supposed to be a sweet, awkward, and youthful romance, and that’s exactly what we’re getting from the PV so far.

And honestly, no one is expecting some huge conspiracy or secret god suddenly coming into the series.

I mean, literally. 😂

We’re here for the romance, the comedy, the awkward moments, and, of course, Sato-san being sweet only to Sota.

Opening and Ending Theme Songs

Well, we normally don’t cover this part, but this was announced alongside the anime, so I was like, why not cover it? 😅

Because we have the information, and we might as well talk about it.

The opening theme song will be “Sugar Salt” by Masayoshi Oishi.

And the song is scheduled for a digital release on October 6, 2026, which is the same day the anime premieres.

So, yeah, we’re getting the opening song on the exact same day we’re getting the anime.

And then we have the ending theme song, “Hatsukoi Reply” by HoneyWorks feat. Sara Hoshikawa.

The ending song is scheduled for digital release on September 29, 2026.

So, more accurately, we’re actually getting the ending song before the opening song. 😂

It’s kind of funny when you think about it, but, yeah, it is what it is.

And honestly, when we heard about HoneyWorks doing the ending song for a sweet high-school romance, it felt pretty fitting.

Why?

Because we already know that they make this kind of song.

Like, for example, I’ve Always Liked You, The Moment You Fall in Love, and Heroines Run the Show. HoneyWorks has been involved with all three romance-focused anime projects.

So, yeah, when I saw that HoneyWorks was doing the ending song for The Cold Sato-san Is Sweet Only to Me, I was like, “Okay, this actually makes sense.” 😂

And, honestly, I can already imagine the ending being one of those songs that you just want to replay after every episode.

Like, we’re not going to skip it.

At least, that’s what I’m expecting.

Fun Fact: The Manga Isn’t the Original Source!

Most of you might not know this, but The Cold Sato-san Is Sweet Only to Me isn’t originally source is a manga.

And this is where things are getting more and more interesting, because when I was researching, I found out that it wasn’t only a manga. Actually, the manga isn’t the original source material.

The original source of the story is a web novel from 2019, written by Kazami Sawatari, which was later adapted into the light novel version.

The light novel began publication on December 18, 2019, under Shogakukan’s Gagaga Bunko label, with illustrations by A Chiki.

And then, after around six to seven months, in May 2020, the manga adaptation finally began serialization on MangaONE and Ura Sunday, with Kaya Tetsuyama handling the manga artwork.

The first collected manga volume was released in September 2020.

So, yeah, if you only know The Cold Sato-san Is Sweet Only to Me through the manga, then you might think the manga was the original source material.

But the answer is no.

The timeline is basically:

Web novel → Light novel → Manga → Anime.

And if we look at the timeline, the journey from the web novel to the manga happened pretty quickly—within roughly one year from the original web novel’s start to the manga serialization.

Then we had to wait several more years for the anime adaptation.

And now it’s 2026, and we’re finally getting the anime.

And honestly, when I look at this timeline, I’m getting more and more interested in seeing how this story is actually going to turn out as an anime.

My Thoughts

Well, to be honest with you guys, I didn’t even know about this one before.

Not the manga, not the light novel, nothing.

I just came across the information about the anime, so I decided to start researching it and see what this series was actually about.

And, well, I’m a single person working on this, so obviously I’m not going to be able to watch everything or know everything about every anime out there. 😂

I get information just like you guys do.

Sometimes I find something myself, sometimes you guys tell me something, and sometimes one piece of information leads me to another.

That’s basically how this works.

But while I was researching The Cold Sato-san Is Sweet Only to Me, I started realizing that this is actually a pretty light, cute, and relaxing type of anime.

And honestly, I think I might actually watch it.

Because the story seems like the kind of thing you can sit down with after a long day and just relax.

Not going to lie, I don’t think every anime needs to be about fighting for survival, saving humanity, or destroying the entire world. 😂

Sometimes you just want to watch two idiots slowly realize that they’re in love with each other and enjoy the whole process.

At the same time, you can also sit there and realize:

“Wait… they’re in love, and I’m still single.” 😅

So, yeah.

The concept is actually very simple.

I’m not going to say that it’s some completely unique concept that I’ve never seen before. It’s a pretty straightforward romantic comedy, but that’s also part of its charm.

It’s simple, cute, and seems like it could be a fun anime to watch.

And, yeah, maybe I’ll cry over it too.

Because they’re going to have a relationship, and I’m going to be sitting here like:

“Why don’t we have this?” 

But let’s see how their relationship develops through the story, especially with photography and all those little moments between them.

And let’s see how many of my predictions—or at least my hopes—actually come true.

But obviously, I’m not going to pretend that I’ve already watched it, read the manga, or know everything about the story.

I haven’t.

And I’ve already told you guys that.

So my real opinion is going to come after I actually watch it.

For now, the premiere looks fun.

So why not give it a try?

And the best part is, we don’t have to wait until 2027 or something.

It’s coming on October 6, 2026.

So, yeah.

I might actually give this one a try.

As long as I don’t feel too lonely while watching it. 😂
