My Happy Marriage was produced by Kinema Citrus and directed by Takehiro Kubota. It aired for 12 episodes from April 6, 2023 to June 22, 2023.
Plot and Storyline:
The story of My Happy Marriage follows Miyo and Kiyoka. Miyo Saimori is the eldest daughter of the Saimori family, but she is treated like a servant by her stepmother and half-sister. When she is offered in marriage to the infamously cold Kiyoka Kudo, Miyo barely has enough left in her to hope. However, contrary to everyone’s expectations, Miyo’s marriage turns out to be happy and fulfilling.
Kiyoka is a kind and caring person, despite his cold and distant demeanor. He is also very intelligent and capable, and he quickly becomes a trusted advisor to the Emperor. Miyo, on the other hand, is a strong and independent woman. She is also very resourceful and intelligent.
Together, Miyo and Kiyoka overcome many challenges, both personal and political. They also learn to love and trust each other deeply.
Review:
My Happy Marriage is a refreshingly wholesome and heartwarming romantic comedy anime. The series is free of unnecessary drama and tropes, and instead focuses on the sweet and genuine relationship between Miyo and Kiyoka.
One of the things that makes My Happy Marriage so special is its positive portrayal of relationships. Miyo and Kiyoka’s relationship is built on trust, respect, and communication. They support and encourage each other, and they always have each other’s backs. The series also does a great job of portraying a healthy age-gap relationship. Miyo is a young woman, while Kiyoka is an adult man, but their age difference is never a problem for them.
In addition to its heartwarming romance, My Happy Marriage is also a visually stunning anime. The animation is bright, colorful, and stylish. It perfectly captures the tone of the series.
Overall, My Happy Marriage is a must-watch for fans of romantic comedy anime. It is a sweet, funny, and heartwarming series with well-developed characters and a refreshing portrayal of relationships.
What I Liked:
- The healthy and supportive relationship: Miyo and Kiyoka’s relationship is built on trust, respect, and communication. They support each other through thick and thin, and they always have each other’s backs. It’s a very refreshing and heartwarming portrayal of a romantic relationship in anime.
- The well-developed characters: Miyo and Kiyoka are both complex and well-developed characters. Miyo is strong and independent, despite her difficult upbringing. Kiyoka is cold and distant on the surface, but he is actually a kind and caring person. The supporting cast is also well-developed and likable.
- The beautiful animation: The animation in My Happy Marriage is absolutely stunning. The character designs are elegant and detailed, and the backgrounds are lush and colorful. The animation also does a great job of capturing the beauty of the Japanese countryside.
What I Didn’t Like:
- The slow pacing: My Happy Marriage is a slow-paced anime series. There’s not a lot of action or excitement, and the show instead focuses on the day-to-day lives of Miyo and Kiyoka. This may not be to everyone’s taste, but I personally enjoyed the slow pace and the focus on character development.
Overall:
My Happy Marriage is a sweet, heartwarming, and visually stunning anime series. It’s a great show to watch if you’re looking for a romantic comedy anime that is free of unnecessary drama and tropes.
