So, are you one of us eagerly waiting for the return of Spirit Chronicles? The last season left us with a cliffhanger, and ever since, we fans have been speculating about when we can expect to see more of the spirit world and its fascinating inhabitants. Well, we’ve already covered most of the details in a previous blog post. Click here to check that out. In my last blog, I wasn’t able to share my personal expectations for season 2, so in this post, we’re going to dive into that!

First, let’s discuss the release date for Spirit Chronicles Season 2.

The second season of Spirit Chronicles was announced just two months after Season 1 concluded, and excitement has been building ever since! This captivating anime gained immense popularity, especially after its international release and English dub. However, after the announcement on November 5, 2021, we faced a long, suspenseful two-year wait with little to no updates, leading many fans to worry about the possibility of cancellation.

Thankfully, the silence has been broken, and the long-awaited Season 2 is set to launch this year! The official trailer, released on September 12, 2024, showcases the opening theme song “Auftakt” and confirms the premiere date of October 7, 2024. Get ready, as the series will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll, bringing us back to the enchanting world of spirits and their fascinating adventures!

What Are My Personal Expectations for This Anime?

As I mentioned, this anime left us with a cliffhanger at the end of Season 1. To be honest, I loved the story, the world-building, and how the protagonist, Rio, grows stronger. I particularly enjoyed the moment when he first meets Celia Claire.

While I expect the story to become epic, I appreciate harem shows and anime in general. However, in this case, I’m concerned about the harem aspect because I really don’t want Celia to get sidelined. That’s the reason I’m sharing my concerns, and I’ll explain more about that in the next paragraph. According to MyAnimeList (MAL), the anime does lean towards harem themes, but I still hope that the main female character remains Celia and that she doesn’t just become another girl among the rest.

Why Not Harem?

It’s because, as we saw in the last episode and the trailer, Miharu Ayase from his previous life is summoned as a hero to this world. Now, if you’ve watched the whole anime, you’ll understand what I’m getting at. Yes, when I first completed the anime and saw her in the last episode, I really didn’t like Miharu Ayase’s character, especially because she’s the one who broke the promise in his previous life.

I know this might sound like a personal grudge, and there are probably many Miharu Ayase fans who won’t be happy with me for saying this—they’re ready to kill me! But after waiting for almost two years and researching on this anime, I found out that the promise she broke was just a misunderstanding. Still, I don’t want to see her as the main female character.

Another reason I feel this way is because of how Rio and Celia Claire’s relationship has developed and grown with each episode. Even if the anime turns into the typical isekai harem, I still hope that Celia remains the main female character and doesn’t just become another girl among the rest.
