Well Hello, After a two-day delay, I am finally here. Today is Friday, and this means today needs to be an anime review, but now it is an episode review because of the delay.
So yeah, I apologize for that. 😅
As I promised you guys, I am going to review the second episode as we continue the series. I wasn’t going to forget about it. Even my first episode review wasn’t liked by Google because it is still not indexed. Even I tried manually, but it still didn’t work. 😅 Well, yeah, I am still continue this.
Because I don’t like to leave this series halfway, at least not this anime, because I like this anime as well.
And if somehow this episode review gets indexed and you are new here, then I just suggest you go and check out our first episode anime review. It will give you guys my review or my reaction to episode number one, and that will make it easier or more enjoyable to read episode number two.
And yeah, before we start, I’m not going to tell you guys every time what this anime is about and all that stuff, because I already mentioned that in episode number one. I’m just going to directly review it. 😅
The Story and My Review
Well, before we continue, just a warning. If you haven’t watched this anime yet and you were planning to watch this anime later, then please leave this page instantly, because from this point, the entire episode will be reviewed, and it will include many spoilers.
A Glimpse of What Happened in Episode 1
A Quick Recap of Episode 1. Well, in episode number one, we were introduced to Kou Reirin, one of the imperial consorts who is close to the Crown Prince, and Shu Keigetsu, another consort who was openly portrayed as a villainess.
Well, I still consider that Crown Prince a lucky guy, having his own harem and everything. 😅 He has a harem, and here I wasn’t even able to talk to the girls properly. Well, looks like my emotions are getting leaked. Sorry about it.🥲
Well 😅 Back to the story.
During the festival, Keigetsu pushed Reirin from the balcony, and the two of them switched bodies.
Now Keigetsu is the main character, with Reirin inside her, while Reirin is inside Keigetsu’s body. Keigetsu had also used forbidden magic and placed a curse on Reirin that prevents her from telling anyone about the body swap.
Because of Keigetsu’s previous actions, everyone believes that Reirin pushed herself from the balcony.
And then came the lion trial, where the lion would determine whether she was guilty or not.
And somehow, Keigetsu managed to survive it.
That’s basically what you need to remember before we jump into Episode 2. 😅
The Episode 2 And The Starts.
Well, episode number two started from where episode number one ended. After the lion trial was over, we were introduced to one new character who didn’t have a name in the last episode. We got to see a red-haired girl, and her name was Leelee.
And what we get in episode number two is that she was serving Keigetsu. She was her personal court lady.
At the very start of the episode, we find out that our Keigetsu was given an order from Lady Gabi to be relocated to another place. Because of what she had done, she couldn’t stay the way she used to, and she wasn’t going to be treated the way she was treated before.
And what we get at the beginning of the episode—I’m not going to lie—that is the starting scene I liked the most. When Leelee was asked by Keigetsu for her name, she was like, “What’s your name again?”
And Leelee would get angry or annoyed, like, “Obviously, why dose you know my name?” 😅 But I should be… It had only been for year since she started serving.
At the same time, when Keigetsu understood that, “Wait, what? She is a personal court lady for Lady The Real Keigetsu?” Her reaction inside was literally kind of funny. And her annoyed part was literally showing something. Like, you could clearly see that she was annoyed, and I liked that part.
Well, in the beginning, there were a few more things which caught my attention. Like, when Keigetsu sees Leelee for the first time, her inner monologue starts. She looks at her robe and notices that it was a little lighter than it normally used to be. And just by seeing that, she could tell that Leelee came from a lower-ranking family within that clan.
That tells me that this anime—or this story—wasn’t just going to be about switching bodies. There are many politics and other things going on as well.
I understood that part because when that single detail was pointed out, it showcased something. Just that single thing was able to tell us that this wasn’t only a story about switching bodies.
It was more than that, like politics, rankings, and even clan agreements.
And yeah, then we visited the place where she was relocated.
Relocated And The Real Exile
Well, let me ask you. What would you do if you got relocated, or you were really exiled?
I mean, you were treated as a royal for so long, and now you were exiled or relocated somewhere that used to be just a storehouse and hadn’t even been used for the last decade.
Obviously, you would cry about it, think about it, and try to tell others about your hardship, right?
But you know what Keigetsu, who actually has Reirin inside her, did?
She was happy about it. 😅
Yep, she was literally happy about it, like she had finally gotten her freedom.
We also find out that when Reirin was in her original body, she always wanted to do many things, but because of her weak body, she wasn’t able to do them. She wanted to be free, not be a burden to everyone, and do things by herself.
And now, even though she had been relocated, she could finally do the things she always wanted to do. She could now live the way she wanted.
At the same time, we also see that Leelee doesn’t like her at all, and…
Leelee And The Offer
When the story was starting, I just thought that Leelee was annoyed because of her, and because of her, she was also getting the same treatment that she was getting.
But as the story continued, we found out it wasn’t only about that. She was being treated badly even before, by the real Keigetsu.
Later, we also find out her backstory. She was bullied because she was born into a low-ranking clan family. She was the only one who came from a local family but still became a court lady. Her mother was a dancer, while her father was a part of the clan, and that’s how she was born.
And the real Keigetsu treated her very badly because of her background. Because of her bloodline, she was also treated badly among the other court ladies.
And now she was also receiving the same punishment as Keigetsu, just because she was her personal court lady.
This was also shown later when she went to the court to get some food for herself and her lady, but she wasn’t allowed to get any. Why? Because they wouldn’t give food to someone who was considered to have tried to kill someone. And once again, she was harassed because of her bloodline and was refused food.
While the story continued, she was trying to arrange food somewhere else, and someone approached her. It was a high-ranking court lady from the Kin clan, who offered to make things harder for Keigetsu so that she would eventually be taken away by them.
The point was that they offered her something in exchange for her help. At first, she wasn’t taking it.
At the same time, that high-ranking court lady told her, “I think you need more than this.” And then she gave her a bag of rice.
She accepted it because she didn’t have any other option. She needed to survive, and that food was necessary.
She really wanted to just leave that clan.
She came back to the place where Keigetsu was now relocated. On the way, she thought that if she grovelled, then she would think about give her the food she got. She would share it with her.
But when she arrived there, she was very shocked about it. Why? Because she wasn’t expecting that.
Keigetsu, the same lady who wasn’t able to do anything before, had now done everything, which was, like, impossible for her character.
She planted the crops. She even cleaned up the area. She even cooked the food.
But she didn’t know about the reality, so she asked about it: “Are you really Keigetsu?”
She couldn’t tell her the reality because of the curse. Crazy. 😅
She had changed after that incident, but she couldn’t explain it without telling the full truth.
But Leelee didn’t understand it at all.
The Backstory
We don’t only get a backstory about Leelee, but we get other people’s backstories as well, like Real Keigetsu backstory.
We find out that she was born into a family where her father was a mage, and her mother came from a low lineage of the family. They both…
And after that, Lady Shu Gabi took her in. Despite coming from a low-ranking family, she was taken by her and became a member of her court ladies.
And she was treated badly just because she wasn’t properly trained yet, and she didn’t know how to behave properly. Because of that, she was treated badly during her time there.
But on the other hand, she really hated Reirin. Why? Because she was the only one who treated her well, and that was one of the reasons why she became jealous of her.
Why?
Because Reirin got everything she wanted, while on the other hand, she didn’t have anything at all.
Among all the Imperial Consort, Reirin was the one who really treated her well. But because no one else treated her well, that made her more and more jealous of Reirin.
And that’s why she decided to take her body.
My Thoughts
Well, I try to give my reaction in every way. Why? Because from the very beginning, I gave it, but still, let’s go to my reaction.
Being honest with you, this entire episode was all about the backstory and world-building. Why? Because many of the questions were answered, like what the backstory about Keigetsu was, and what the connection was with her being a mage, which was showcased through her father being a mage and everything.
And to be honest, this was smooth and clear, but everything was likable.
And the funny part about it was when Shin-u came there and asked if anyone could think of something he could help with, and his partner was like, “Well, don’t ask for her. She might ask for money, influence, or maybe something like that.”
But she just asked, “Can you help me get a Salt?”
That’s all she asked, and that’s all.
Whatever, that scene was one of the funniest scenes about it, and this entire episode was very fun to watch. It’s calm and everything, but it also builds up many things for future episodes.
And yeah, there were a few things which I wanted to point out about it, which I liked the most, and one of the scenes also hurt my heart somehow.
Well, about who I get as my favorite character in this, being honest, I literally like Leelee’s character in that. I don’t know why. Maybe she might become a crush right now or something like that, but her character design and her character.
And jokes aside about it, her character was written well, and I wanted to see her in the future. I wanted to know what she will do as the story continues, or whether she will make her life harder. I am confused about it, but yeah, let’s see what she will do.
And I am hoping that she doesn’t do anything which makes me start to hate her. Okay, she has a very good character style and everything.
Okay, about the entire story, there was something I really liked. We also get to find out what Reirin actually thinks about it, like what she thinks about herself. She was always dependent on others before, and now she wants to be reliable herself and self-dependent.
And now, this is supposed to give her freedom and everything. That was kind of a very interesting point and a lovable thing.
Well, I give this episode…
I’m not going to lie, this was a very good episode.
The point about how the episode ended—that was the part which hurt my heart, when Leelee was crying because of the harassment. And to be honest, literally my heart was a little bit.
But yeah, let’s see what is going to happen in Episode 3, and I can’t wait for that.
The Fool
And watching episode number two, I also came to the conclusion that our Crown Prince is an idiot. 😅
Why, though?
Well, the answer is very simple. He was calling her his butterfly from the very first episode, and he doesn’t even know how she acts or how she normally is.
I mean, if he loved her that much, or at least tried to show it like that, shouldn’t he have been the first person to notice that her behavior had changed and that she was acting differently? But except for him, everyone was started to noticing that. 😭
