Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles Season 3 Officially Announced! | Are You Excited?

Well, today was supposed to be a blog day.

But here we are…

Giving you another anime update. πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

Why?

Because I guess the anime industry really doesn’t want me to stop writing anime updates at all.

Well…

Another day, another update.

Just when I thought we were finally done with all these anime announcements and could get a little rest and start working on some interesting blogs, maybe some manga reviews, or even episode reviews…

The anime industry was like:

β€œNope.” 😭

Why?

Because another new announcement came in.

And to be honest, this is actually one of those announcements that I need to cover.

Yep.

I’m talking about a series that’s now getting its third season.

And yeah…

If you guessed Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles, then you’re absolutely right. πŸ˜…

Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles Season 3 has been officially confirmed.

It was officially announced on September 30, 2026, through the anime’s official website, which confirmed that the third TV anime season is now in production. A new announcement visual was also revealed alongside the news.

And honestly…

I wasn’t expecting this announcement right now.

The last time we got a new season announcement, we had to wait quite a while, so I thought they were probably going to take their sweet time again.

But apparently…

They had other plans. πŸ˜‚

So…

What exactly do we know about Season 3?

Let’s talk about it. πŸ‘€

What is Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles all about?

Well, let’s talk about it.

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles is an isekai fantasy series based on the light novels written by Yuri Kitayama and illustrated by Riv.

The story follows Rio, a boy who grew up in the slums after losing his mother.

His mother was killed when he was young, and Rio grew up with one major goal in mind:

Revenge.

But then something unexpected happens.

Rio awakens the memories of another life.

That previous life belonged to Haruto Amakawa, a Japanese university student who died in a traffic accident.

So suddenly, Rio has to deal with the memories of two different lives.

His current life as Rio…

And his previous life as Haruto.

And yeah…

Things get complicated. πŸ˜…

Because Haruto’s previous life isn’t completely disconnected from Rio’s current one.

There are people and memories from his previous life that eventually become important to the story.

One of them is Miharu Ayase, Haruto’s childhood friend.

We eventually see her appear in the story as well.

So now Rio isn’t simply dealing with his life in this new fantasy world.

He’s also dealing with his past life, his memories, and the people he knew before his reincarnation.

And that’s where the story starts becoming much more complicated.

What initially begins as a story about Rio surviving in a fantasy world and seeking revenge eventually expands into something much bigger.

We get the royal family, magic, spirits, political conflicts, different kingdoms, heroes, and a lot more.

And somehow, Rio ends up becoming involved in all of it.

The story also introduces other people who came from modern Japan, which makes the connection between Rio’s current life and Haruto’s previous life even more interesting.

And honestly…

That’s when things really start getting messy. πŸ˜‚

When Can We Expect Season 3?

Well, this was just announced, so don’t get your hopes too high just yet. πŸ˜…

We’ve seen it happen before. A new season gets announced, and then we either have to wait a long time for more information or the production takes longer than expected.

So, for now, we just need to wait a little bit.

That being said, it does look like this announcement came much sooner than the previous one, so hopefully we won’t have to wait that long this time.

I wouldn’t expect a release date to be announced immediately, though. More likely, we’ll get another PV, a new visual, or some additional information over the next few months.

We might get a release year, month, or even a more specific date later on, but for now, that’s just speculation.

So if you see someone already claiming that Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles Season 3 has a confirmed release date…

Be careful. πŸ˜…

As of now, there is no confirmed release date.

For now, all we know is that Season 3 is officially in production.

What Happened in Season 1 and Season 2?

Now, I’m not going to go through everything that happened in the first two seasons, because otherwise this section is going to become a whole article by itself.

But let’s quickly go through the basics.

Season 1 premiered in 2021 and had 12 episodes.

Season 2 followed in 2024, also with 12 episodes.

Season 1 basically established the foundation of Rio’s story.

We got to see his past, his revenge, his new life, his connections with the people around him, and the beginning of the much bigger story.

And honestly, there was also some good romance in there.

I’m not going to lie about that. πŸ˜…

Especially when it comes to Rio and Celia.

Well…

According to me, she’s the main heroine.

I don’t know what everyone else thinks about it. πŸ˜‚

But that’s my opinion.

And yeah…

My personal feelings are leaking into the article again.

Let’s leave that aside.

Season 2 then moved the story forward and focused much more on Rio’s journey, his past, and the revenge that he had been carrying for so long.

And eventually…

Rio finally came face-to-face with the person he had been seeking revenge against.

That’s where things became even more complicated.

We also got another very important development involving Miharu.

Β

She eventually learns that Rio is connected to Haruto, the person she knew in her previous life.

And that creates an entirely different emotional situation for Rio.

Because now, it’s not just about his current life anymore.

His past life is directly coming back into his present.

And that’s basically where we are heading into Season 3.

Now…

What Can We Expect From Season 3?

Honestly, I don’t know.

And I’m not even going to pretend that I do.

Well, it’s based on the light novels, so unfortunately, I haven’t read the light novels myself. I actually tried to get them, but they weren’t available in my region, so I wasn’t able to read them.

Yep, I know.

It’s the same excuse I’ve used for some of the other anime too. πŸ˜‚

But it is true.

They weren’t available in my region, so try to understand, okay? πŸ˜…

And honestly, I don’t want to start looking for spoilers just so I can tell you what Season 3 is going to do.

So let’s talk about what we can actually expect from Season 3.

Well, the safest answer is that the story should continue from where Season 2 left us.

It will continue with the source material from the light novels, and Rio’s journey is obviously not over yet.

Why?

Because he still hasn’t been able to take his revenge.

In Season 2, we finally saw Rio confront Lucius, the person responsible for his mother’s death. But Rio wasn’t able to finish what he started because Reiss intervened and took Lucius away.

So, naturally, one of the biggest questions going into Season 3 is:

Will Rio finally be able to get his revenge?

That’s one part of it.

But there is another part that is honestly making me confused.

And that’s the whole Hero situation.

We saw heroes being summoned, and Season 2 gave us much more information about them. We got information about the Divine-Demon War, the heroes, the prophecy surrounding them, and how people from Japan are being summoned into this world.

But there is still one thing that doesn’t completely make sense to me.

Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles
Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles

Why were the heroes summoned in the first place?

I mean, if you’re summoning people from another world, there has to be some big reason behind it, right?

They’re not just going to summon heroes from another world just so they can fight some random bad guys.

That would be kind of stupid. πŸ˜‚

And that’s where my confusion comes from.

We have seen monsters. We have seen demons. We’ve heard about the ancient Divine-Demon War and the conflict surrounding the heroes.

But…

Where is the actual bigger threat?

Is there some kind of Demon King behind everything?

Is there another major enemy?

Is it connected to humans?

Or is there something else entirely going on behind the scenes?

Because right now, we’ve been given pieces of information, but we still don’t have the complete picture.

And that’s what I personally want Season 3 to explain.

The revenge story is one thing.

But the whole Hero situation is a completely different plot, and I really want to know where it’s actually going.

Because if the reason for summoning people from another world is connected to some massive conflict, then there has to be something much bigger waiting for us.

And honestly, the stakes have been getting bigger and bigger with every season.

First, we had conflicts that felt much more local.

Then things started expanding toward nations.

And now we’re dealing with different kingdoms, heroes, demons, and an ancient conflict that seems to be connected to the entire world.

So naturally, I expect the story to continue getting bigger from here.

There are still plenty of questions that haven’t been answered.

And personally, I also want to see how everything connects to Rio’s previous life, his present life, and the people connected to both of them.

So yeah…

I don’t know exactly what Season 3 is going to adapt, and I haven’t read the light novels, so I’m not going to pretend that I know what’s coming.

But based on where Season 2 left us, I think it’s safe to expect Rio’s journey to continue, his revenge story to remain important, and the larger mystery surrounding the heroes and this world to become even more important.

And honestly…

That’s what I want to know.

Why were they summoned?

And who is actually behind all of this?

Because after two seasons…

We still want an answer. πŸ˜…

My Personal Thoughts

Well, let’s talk about it.

What do I actually think about the announcement?

Honestly, I was really surprised this time.

They announced Season 3 much earlier than I expected. I already talked about that earlier, but yeah, I genuinely didn’t expect them to announce it this soon.

And because they’ve announced it earlier this time, I’m hoping that also means they’ll be able to work faster this time.

I’m not asking them to rush the production or anything like that.

I just don’t want us to wait forever again. πŸ˜…

Season 1 came out, got a lot of attention, and a lot of people watched it and enjoyed it. But then we had to wait quite a while for Season 2, and that became a problem later because the series wasn’t exactly something you could see talked about everywhere anymore.

So this time, I’m hoping they can move a little faster.

Or at least…

Give us something to work with. πŸ˜‚

Even if it’s just another visual, a PV, some staff information, or eventually a release window.

Just don’t make us wait forever again.

And then we have my personal opinion about the series.

I’ve already said this multiple times in my previous blog, and I’m not going to change my opinion just because someone might hate me for it.

Okay?

I really don’t like the childhood friend character. πŸ˜‚

I don’t know why, but I just don’t.

And honestly, I sometimes find myself shipping Rio and Celia more because of that.

And then there’s another thing…

I really don’t like how the story started moving toward the harem side.

Not going to lie.

Season 1 was something I really enjoyed. I gave it around a 9.5/10, and I genuinely liked what the series was doing.

But when we got to Season 2, the story itself was still good. The world-building was getting bigger, the Hero concept was interesting, and we were getting more information about the world.

But the moment it started becoming more and more of a harem story…

That’s where I started having a problem with it.

And honestly, I’m still confused about why isekai anime so often end up doing this. πŸ˜‚

Like…

Why can’t the guy just move on?

I tried to look at the childhood-friend situation from different perspectives and maybe think that there was some misunderstanding involved.

But still…

When there are other characters who I personally think work much better with him, I’m sitting here thinking:

β€œBro, why are we doing this?” πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

But yeah, that’s just my personal opinion.

Because of that, while I gave Season 1 around 9.5/10, I’d personally give Season 2 around 7.3/10.

And I know…

That’s a pretty big drop. πŸ˜‚

But I gave it a 7.3 because I still think the season was important for the overall story.

We got more world-building, we learned more about the Heroes, the larger conflict started becoming clearer, and the story itself continued moving forward.

So I still enjoyed it.

I just didn’t enjoy that particular direction as much.

And as for Season 3?

Honestly…

I’m 50/50.

I’m interested in seeing what happens next, especially if we get more scenes with Rio and Celia. πŸ˜…

And yeah, I already know some people are probably going to disagree with me about the childhood-friend character.

That’s completely fine.

You can tell me what you think in the comments too.

But personally…

She’s probably at the very bottom of my favorite-character list.

Actually, forget the list.

She doesn’t even make the list. πŸ˜‚

Well…

That’s my personal opinion, okay?

Don’t get offended. πŸ˜…

You can disagree with me, you can tell me your own opinion, and you can point out where you think I’m wrong in the comments.

But for me…

Sometimes the harem stuff just gets a little too much.

Well…

I guess I really did get it out to much this time. πŸ˜…

And that’s it for today, I guess.

Stay Updated

So I guess that’s it for today’s anime update.

Well, if you enjoyed this anime update and you enjoyed this blog, don’t forget to share it with your fellow anime fans or your friends who were also waiting for Season 3 of this series, okay?

Okay, I already told you mine. πŸ˜‚

And yeah, by the way…

I didn’t forget the childhood friend’s name.

I was just calling her β€œthe childhood friend” because it was more convenient than writing her Japanese name again and again.

I’m lazy, okay? πŸ˜‚

So yeah, you can criticize me for that in the comments too.

You’re completely free to give me your opinion. Tell me what you think about the anime, whether you agree with what I said or completely disagree with me, and whether you feel the same way about the story.

And also, are you excited for Season 3?

Let me know that in the comments as well.

And if you haven’t watched this anime yet, then maybe go and watch Season 1.

As for Season 2…

I’ll leave that decision entirely up to you. πŸ˜‚
