When Is Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love Coming? | We Got New Updates!

Well, another day, another anime update.

And yep, we are just getting one update after another these past few days. 😅

Today we’re going to be covering another anime adaptation based on a manga, and this one combines cops, romance, and comedy. Yep. 😅

Yep, you guessed it right.

I’m talking about Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love.

The anime adaptation was originally announced in October 2025, and more recently, on September 24, 2026, we got a new visual along with some additional information about the upcoming series.

And yes, I know I’m a little late to this one. 😂

But nobody is going to complain about that, right?

So, let’s talk about what this new update brings us, what we know about the anime so far, and, of course, what exactly was revealed on September 24.

Let’s get into it. 👀

When Is the Anime Actually Coming?

Well, let’s talk about what most of you probably came here for.

We’re going to get straight to the point first, and then we’ll talk about what this anime is all about and some other information.

So, when is it actually coming?

Well, we don’t need to wait that much longer, because the anime is scheduled to premiere in January 2027. Yep, the first month of the year. 😅

This was officially confirmed on May 22, when the first teaser PV was released alongside the announcement of the main cast. The latest official update also continues to list January 2027 as the broadcast window.

As for the exact broadcast date and time, we don’t know that yet.

For now, we only have the month.

And honestly, at least we have that much. 😂

There hasn’t been any further announcement about the exact date or broadcast schedule, so January 2027 is all we know for now.

That’s it.

So, let’s move on to the next topic:

What is this anime actually about?

What Is Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love All About?

Well, let’s talk about the anime.

You guys already know the basic part by now, but yeah, the anime is adapted from the manga, which is the main source material for the series. It was written and illustrated by Ayune Araragi, and is serialized in Monthly Shōnen Ace by KADOKAWA.

Now, let’s talk about the plot.

When I was researching the story, I found out that this is basically a story about Rinna Isshiki, a highly intelligent police inspector who became an inspector at just 17 years old.

Yep.

Seventeen. 😭

Meanwhile, I was probably just thinking about finishing school at that age, and she’s already becoming a police inspector.

Anime logic, I guess. 😂

Rinna graduated from university at the top of her class and became known as “Steel Rinna” because of her extremely serious and calm personality. She doesn’t really show her emotions, and most of the time, she keeps everything under control.

But there is one thing she doesn’t understand very well.

Love.

And that’s where things start getting interesting.

Rinna begins working with Meishi Rokutanda, a somewhat clumsy detective who works as a contracted detective for the police.

Whenever Rinna is around Meishi, something strange starts happening.

She experiences a racing heartbeat, becomes flustered, and starts reacting in ways that are completely unusual for someone who normally keeps her emotions under control.

And she can’t understand why.

Eventually, Meishi suggests that the two of them try dating as a pseudo-couple, so Rinna can figure out what these feelings actually mean.

And that’s basically where the story begins.

In simple terms, we have two people trying to figure out romance, except neither of them is exactly an expert at it. 😂

Instead of having one experienced character teaching the other about love, we get two people trying to understand their own feelings together, while also dealing with police work and investigations along the way.

So underneath all the comedy and romance, that’s basically what this anime is about.

And I’ll be honest…

I was genuinely confused about one thing while researching this.

Why did they make her 17? 😭

I mean, she’s already graduated from university, become a police inspector, and is apparently one of the smartest people around.

Could we not just make her 18 or something? 😂

But that’s my own little thought, so let’s put that aside.

The premise itself is actually something you don’t see every day.

A police inspector who doesn’t understand love, a detective who’s also kind of an airhead, and both of them trying to figure out what they’re feeling while working together?

Yeah, that’s pretty unique.

And honestly, that’s one of the things that initially caught my interest in this anime.

What New Information Did We Get?

Well, In this new update, we got some cast member information and a new visual. Literally, a visual. 😂

The visual shows Rinna and Meishi together under an autumn-colored ginkgo tree, walking alongside each other and smiling. And honestly, it definitely gives us a much more romantic feeling compared to some of the earlier promotional material. 😅

And in the visual, we can see the two of them together, holding each other’s pinky fingers.

Or… is that what you call it? 😅

For me, it’s called pinky fingers. I don’t know, guys, what you call it, but if you call it the same thing, then let me know in the comments.

So yeah, they’re holding each other’s pinky fingers, and as always, the visual also gives us the title and other information about the anime, including when it’s going to be released.

So, for now, we just have to wait.

That’s basically what we got from the visual.

We also got some information about the cast, with four more characters joining the cast.

The newly announced cast members are Haruki Ishiya as Danjuro Iwata, Takuma Nagatsuka as Masato Nakatani, Hiiro Ishibashi as Chikai Matsumoto, and Yu Wakui as Rena Yamakawa.

And we also already have our main cast members, with Riko Akechi as Rinna Isshiki and Shūichirō Umeda as Meishi Rokutanda.

So, these are the people who will be behind the voices and bringing these characters to life.

For those of you who want to go more in-depth into the cast and the characters, that’s where you can look further into them.

And now, let’s go to the next section.

Who Is Going to Be Behind the Anime?

Well, they actually have a very promising lineup behind this anime.

Why?

Because the anime is being produced by Sakura Create, which is also handling the animation production. And if you don’t know much about them, you’ve probably already seen some of the titles they’ve worked on, such as Usagi Drop, Tsuritama, Zetman, Natsume’s Book of Friends Season 3, Level E, IS: Infinite Stratos, and Kuragehime.

So, yeah, they definitely have some experience behind them. 😅

Then let’s talk about the director and the rest of the main staff.

The series is directed by Kazuya Komai, with Deko Akao handling the series composition and Shōhei Hamaguchi responsible for the character designs. And these aren’t exactly small names either, with their previous work including several well-known anime.

Deko Akao, for example, has worked on Gintama, Noragami, Snow White with the Red Hair, Flying Witch, After the Rain, The Case Study of Vanitas, and Komi Can’t Communicate.

The staff also includes Noriyasu Murata as the prop designer, Satomi Nakajima as the CG director, and MICHIRU handling the music.

And finally, KADOKAWA is also involved in the music production.

Yep.

KADOKAWA.

Just hearing the KADOKAWA name is probably enough for many of you. 😂

I don’t even need to give you any examples, Why ? because there’s a very good chance you’ve already watched something related to them.

And honestly, that’s one of the things that makes me look at this adaptation and think:

Yeah, this could be pretty promising.

And now

I’m definitely interested in seeing what they can do with it. 😅

My Personal Thoughts

Well, I didn’t know about this series before, so I don’t really have any connection with it or any particular reaction to how it’s going to turn out. 😅

But the premise is promising.

And now you might feel like I’m just saying some generic words here, but I’m not. We’ve seen plenty of detectives who become more emotional after finding a partner, and we’ve also seen plenty of weird things in detective anime. 😂

But this one feels like it could be a little different.

How?

I don’t know.

The premise gives me some idea of what we might get: detective work, police work, romance, comedy, and everything mixed together.

The only thing I’m not sure about is how much of the actual police and detective work we’re going to see. Are there going to be proper missions and investigations? Are we going to get serious detective or police cases alongside the romance? Or will the police and detective side mostly stay in the background while the story focuses on the romantic comedy?

I honestly don’t know.

And that’s because I haven’t read the manga and didn’t know about this series before, so I’m going into it pretty much blind.

So, everything I’m saying here is just my own conclusion and personal thought based on what I’ve seen and read about the premise.

But yeah, the anime is getting adapted, and there are some pretty well-known and experienced people behind the production. That’s definitely enough to make me interested in giving it a try.

I didn’t really have any expectations going into this, except that the team behind it looks pretty good. I don’t know how the story is going to develop or exactly what direction it’s going to take.

But I think giving it a try is worth it.

And no, I’m definitely not saying that having a big team or recognizable names automatically means I’m going to love the anime.

That’s not how it works.

But giving it a try?

That’s basically my job as a critic. 😂

So yeah, I’m going to watch it, give it a fair chance, and let’s see what this anime is actually going to do.

Stay Updated!

Well, that’s it for today, I guess. 😅
