Well, hello! Another day, another anime update!

Over the last few days, we have had plenty of anime updates to cover. But today, we’re going to talk about one of the topics that’s getting attention right now. It’s a a franchise that is still going strong even after its original light novel series ended, and it still has a very loyal fan base.

And guess what? I’m one of those fans myself! 😅

Well, yep I’m talking about Date A Live, the franchise that began as a light novel series and later received an anime adaptation.

The original light novel series, written by Kōshi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako, began in 2011 and concluded in 2020, with a total of 22 volumes. Meanwhile, the anime adaptation started in 2013, and its fifth season, Date A Live V, concluded in 2024.

So, what’s happening now? Well, we have some great news to share with you!

If you’ve been following this franchise, you already know that the original light novel story has ended and that the latest anime season concluded in 2024. Then, on April 9, 2026, a new anime project titled Date A Live F Last Date was officially announced.

But why is this project getting attention again now?

Well, KADOKAWA Animation has officially listed the Japanese theatrical release date for Date A Live F Last Date on its website. The film is scheduled to be released in Japanese theaters on March 26, 2027.

This isn’t an entirely new project announcement. The anime project was already revealed back in April, but now we have a theatrical release date to look forward to.

And considering the title Last Date, I can’t help wondering whether this project will finally bring Shido and Tohka’s story to its conclusion—or at least, that’s what I’m expecting from the title. 😅

So, without wasting any more time, let’s get into the details!

What Is Date A Live F Last Date All About?

Well, let’s talk about the announcement itself first. What exactly is Date A Live F Last Date all about?

Well, the new project will most likely continue the story from where the previous anime adaptation left off. The Date A Live franchise has been around for around 15 years, beginning with its original light novel series in 2011. Over the years, we’ve received five anime seasons, with the latest one, Date A Live V, concluding in 2024.

But what exactly are we going to see in this new project?

According to the official introduction, the story will explore the countless mysteries that have unfolded throughout the series and reveal the truths that still remain hidden. Shido and his friends are approaching the final stage of their battle, setting the stage for what the official description calls their final war in the form of a date.

Now, here’s what makes this interesting. 😅 The previous season ended, but there’s still source material left that could potentially fill another full season or even a movie. And honestly, this is something many fans have been speculating about.

There are also plenty of mysteries that remain to be explored, including the secrets surrounding the Spirits, the origins of the story, the role of DEM, and other unanswered questions. The official introduction suggests that this new project will bring these mysteries closer to their resolution.

And that brings us to the title, Last Date. Considering the official description and its reference to the final war, I can’t help thinking that this could be the final stage of Shido’s journey.

Well, at least that’s what I’m expecting. 😅

When Will Date A Live F Last Date Be Released?

Well, the answer is finally here, and that’s what this part of the blog is all about!

I already mentioned the release date earlier, but let me tell you again. According to KADOKAWA Animation’s official website, Date A Live F Last Date is scheduled to begin its theatrical release in Japan on March 26, 2027.

Date A Live is already a well-known franchise not only in Japan but also among international anime fans. And since its previous anime seasons have reached audiences worldwide, international fans have a reason to stay hopeful about watching this new project as well.

What About US, The International Fans?

For us , we may have to wait a little longer for international release details, as we often see a gap between a Japanese release and international availability. We still need to wait for official confirmation regarding when and where international audiences will be able to watch it.

So, to make things clear, this isn’t just an unconfirmed rumour. The project has been officially announced, and the Japanese theatrical release date is listed by KADOKAWA Animation.

However, we should be careful about the format. The official release information identifies it as a theatrical release, so we shouldn’t automatically call it a conventional television Season 6.

We’ll have to wait for further official announcements to learn more about the screening schedule and international release plans. Just because a project has been announced doesn’t mean international audiences will get to watch it immediately after its Japanese release.

So, for now, we have a confirmed Japanese theatrical release date, but we’ll need to wait a little longer for more details about when and where international fans can watch it.

My Personal Thoughts

Well, let’s talk about what I think about this announcement and how I actually felt when I heard about it.

To be honest, I was really happy! Why? Because I’ve been following this series for years, starting with the first season and then watching the second, third, fourth, and finally the fifth season. I’ve even rewatched certain parts multiple times. I’m not going to lie about it; I genuinely love this series. 😅

Normally, I’m not someone who enjoys harem anime that much. I usually watch them occasionally, and sometimes I find one that I really like. And Date A Live is definitely one of those anime for me.

But here’s the funny part. My favourite character isn’t even the main female lead, Tohka Yatogami! I know some of you might criticise me for saying that, but you’re absolutely welcome to do so. 😂

For me, Origami Tobiichi is a much more likable character, and she’s one of my favourites in the series. And then there’s Kurumi Tokisaki. Honestly, I don’t even need to explain myself when it comes to Kurumi. My hands are up! I surrender! 😂

They’re both my type 😅

She’s easily one of the best characters for me, even considering everything she’s done, including killing thousands of people. There’s just something about her character that makes her so memorable.

Now, coming back to the announcement, I’m genuinely excited that we’re finally getting another project that could bring the anime story to its conclusion.

I already knew that the original light novel had ended a long time ago. Some members of my team have read the novels, and they’ve told me about the ending and how the story concludes. I’m not going to explain those details here because I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t read them.

But here’s something that caught my attention. After hearing about the novel’s ending from them, I had a particular image in my mind of how certain things would look. And when I saw the visual associated with this theatrical release announcement, it reminded me of that same image. It was almost exactly what I had imagined!

That’s one of the reasons I’m especially excited about this project.

I’m absolutely looking forward to watching it and seeing how everything turns out. I also have a hunch that the creators might include some original content, as anime adaptations sometimes do. But we’ll have to wait and see what they actually have planned.

More importantly, I hope we finally get answers to the mysteries that are still left unresolved, and that every character gets a satisfying conclusion to their story.

And if we’re talking about the previous seasons, I really enjoyed both Season 4 and Season 5. They revealed so many things and gave us plenty of developments to appreciate. Honestly, I don’t have anything particularly negative to say about either season.

As I mentioned earlier, I don’t usually enjoy harem anime as much as some other genres. But Date A Live is one of those rare series that managed to win me over.

So, let’s see how this final stage of the story turns out. I’m definitely waiting for it! ❤️
