Battle Game In 5 Seconds Finally Near the End? | The Hiatus Is Over!

Well, hello again! Welcome back with another blog today.

Well, to be honest, today we are going to talk about something that has been said many times before — that it’s almost at its end. Yep.

Battle in 5 Seconds
Battle in 5 Seconds

If you’ve been around anime for a while, you might remember Battle in 5 Seconds, officially titled Battle Game in 5 Seconds, or Deatte 5-byou de Battle in Japanese.

And recently, PSYREN started its new anime adaptation. If you’ve seen PSYREN, you might understand why I’m bringing it up. It’s kind of the same type of idea in some ways, but also quite different. It’s not exactly a world-ending story. Instead, we are thrown into a deadly battle where people have to survive and play by the rules of the game.

And that’s where Battle in 5 Seconds comes in.

The series gave us a superpower battle where simply having a powerful ability wasn’t enough. Why? Because the whole thing was heavily based around mind games. You get an ability, you get a life, and then you have to fight.

You need to kill, or be killed.

That’s basically the whole game.

The series first got its anime adaptation back in 2021, and the anime ended after 12 episodes. But while the anime stopped there, the manga continued for years afterward.

And today, we’re going back to that same manga because there’s one question that keeps coming up:

Is Battle in 5 Seconds actually getting close to its end?

Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to talk about today.

Does Battle in 5 Seconds Have a Manga?

Well, before we go to the main point of this blog, let’s talk about something that I think many of you already know. After all, that’s probably why you’re here in the first place.

But there are still many people who might not know about it. Maybe they just came across the title Battle in 5 Seconds and clicked on the blog to find out more.

So yep, does Battle in 5 Seconds have a manga?

Well, yes, it does.

The manga is the original source material for the anime you watched. The anime was adapted from the manga, so if you want to know where the original story came from, that’s where it starts.

And here’s another interesting thing about the anime.

The anime adaptation also brought more attention to the original manga. And honestly, whatever the original purpose behind the adaptation was, it definitely worked on me. 😂

I was one of those people who ended up buying the manga because of the anime.

Not physical copies, because that would get a little too expensive for me, but yep, I buy the digital releases.

I didn’t watch the anime back in 2021. I actually watched it around 2023 or early 2024, and after that, I ended up buying the manga myself.

Yep, I still buy it whenever a new chapter comes out.

I have a subscription for the digital manga, so whenever a new chapter is released, I can follow it there.

So whatever the original purpose behind the anime adaptation was, it definitely managed to get at least one international reader interested in the source material.

And that reader is me. 😂

Speaking of the anime itself, I actually enjoyed it.

The CGI wasn’t exactly something I’d give 100% to. I still have the same opinion about that part. It wasn’t perfect, but honestly, it was good enough for me to enjoy the anime and continue following the series afterward.

Where Can You Start Reading the Manga?

Now, if you want to continue the story from where the anime ended, you can pick up the manga from Chapter 64, starting from page 14. That’s where the anime leaves off.

But personally, I would still suggest starting from Chapter 1.

Why?

Because the source material can have extra details and scenes that don’t make it into the anime. Anime productions have tight schedules and limited runtimes, while manga has a little more freedom to take its time with certain parts of the story.

So if you really want to experience the original story, I’d recommend starting from the beginning.

Of course, that’s just my personal suggestion. It’s completely up to you.

Now, with that out of the way, let’s finally get back to the actual topic.

Is Battle in 5 Seconds Actually Coming to an End?

So, now let’s come to the actual topic.

Is Battle in 5 Seconds actually going to end?

Well, the answer is yes — most likely.

But first of all, the manga hasn’t ended yet. What we know is that the series is approaching its final phase, and that isn’t something I’m just saying myself. Kashiwa Miyako Sensei, the illustrator of the manga, previously stated during the 2024 hiatus that the series was approaching its end.

And honestly, considering where the story is right now, it does make sense.

The manga has been running since 2015, and we’re now at Volume 31. The story has already reached the Final phase, with the current manga moving deeper into what appears to be its final stretch.

But there is a big difference between saying:

“The manga is approaching its end.”

and saying:

“The manga has ended.”

Those are two completely different things.

Right now, Battle in 5 Seconds has not ended, and we still don’t have any proper official information telling us exactly when the final chapter will be released.

So when can we expect the ending?

Well… that’s where things become a little complicated.

If the serialization continues normally and Kashiwa Miyako Sensei health allows the manga to maintain its schedule, I think there is a good possibility that we could see the manga reach its conclusion sometime in 2027. It could happen at the beginning of the year, somewhere in the middle, or even toward the end.

But that’s my expectation, not an official announcement.

It could take longer.

And honestly, after everything that has happened with Miyako Sensei health, I don’t think we should put unnecessary pressure on the series to finish within a specific timeframe. The creator’s health should come first.

The manga has already gone through multiple hiatuses because of health issues. The latest one was announced in 2026 after Miyako experienced serious health problems and needed to focus on treatment and recovery. Thankfully, the manga returned to serialization on October 1, 2026, after the latest break.

So, for now, the situation is pretty simple.

The manga is still ongoing, but it appears to be approaching its final phase.

And you can actually feel that in the manga itself. The story has already moved into the Final phase, and the battles and developments we’re seeing now are making the possibility of the finale feel much more real.

So yep, Battle in 5 Seconds is most likely approaching its end.

But it’s not over yet, and there is still no confirmed final chapter date.

For now, the manga is back from its latest hiatus, and all we can really do is wait and see how this final phase plays out.

And honestly…

After following this series for so many years, I’m really curious to see how Akira’s story finally ends.

My Personal Thoughts

So, what do I personally think about all of this?

Well, I’ve been following this manga for quite a long time now, so I’ve already been through some pretty big breaks because of the creator’s health. And to be honest, I really hope Kashiwa Miyako is doing better now.

The manga has returned, which is obviously great news, but I don’t just want to see the creator come back and continue drawing. I also want to see Miyako’s health become stable and stay that way.

The manga returned on October 1, so hopefully, as the serialization continues, we’ll start seeing new chapters again. And with the story already approaching its final phase, I’m really curious to see how everything is eventually going to end.

As for the story itself, I think Battle in 5 Seconds has been a really good series.

The mind games, the background story, the abilities, and the way the characters have to think about every situation — that’s what made the series so interesting to me. It isn’t simply about having the strongest power. Sometimes, the person who understands the situation better is the one who wins.

I actually wanted to write an anime review for this series as well, but I wasn’t really able to do it.

Why?

Well, by the time I was properly following the series, the anime was already an older title. And honestly, I wasn’t getting enough time to write an anime review for it. There are already so many new anime updates coming every day, and that’s why we need to prioritize covering them first.

But even without that review, I still wanted to talk about this series because Akira and Yuri are two characters I really enjoyed.

They are part of what made the story so interesting for me, and the way their story developed was one of the things that kept me interested in the franchise.

And honestly, this anime also introduced me to a kind of genre that I really started enjoying — games and battles happening in the real world.

I hadn’t watched this kind of genre before this.

And what is happening in the manga right now?

It’s crazy good.

The latest chapter has been seriously interesting, and the fight we’re currently following is still something I’m waiting to see properly concluded.

So now that the manga is back, let’s see where this final phase takes us and, eventually, how the whole story is going to end.

I will most likely cover Battle in 5 Seconds again when the manga finally reaches its conclusion.

For now, though, I think that’s enough for today’s blog.
