More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers Finally Returning From Hiatus | Chapter 80 Release Information

Well, hello again! Another day, another update.

And today, we’re talking about something that has been on hiatus for a very long time, and it was recently officially announced that it’s coming back.

The hiatus is finally over!

Yep, I’m talking about More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers.

The manga is finally making its comeback after more than a year of waiting, and honestly, that’s really good news.

But this isn’t just a normal return.

The series is returning with its final part, which means we’re finally getting closer to seeing how the story is going to end. And yep, this isn’t just me saying it — the final part has officially been announced.

So, when is More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers coming back? Why did the manga go on hiatus in the first place? And what exactly do we know about this final part?

That’s what we’re going to talk about in today’s blog.

When Will More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers Be Returning?

Well, let’s get straight to the point — that’s probably why you guys are here in the first place. 😅

So, when is the manga coming back?

The More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers manga will be returning in the December 2026 issue of Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine.

But just to make one thing clear: don’t think it’s actually coming in December. 😂

For international readers, there will obviously be some additional waiting because the Japanese release comes first, and then we have translations and international releases, including the English version.

But for the Japanese release, yep, there’s a little confusing part here.

Even though it’s called the December 2026 issue, the manga is actually expected to return in November 2026.

The returning chapter is expected to be Chapter 80.

So, we don’t actually have to wait until December to see the manga return. The Japanese serialization is expected to begin again in November 2026.

And why is it called the December issue if it’s coming out in November?

Well, that’s simply how the magazine’s issue naming works. The December issue is released ahead of the actual month it represents.

So yep — we’re looking at November, not December. 😅

As for the exact release date, we don’t have that information yet. Hopefully, we’ll get the specific date in the coming days.

And after waiting for more than a year…

we’re finally getting Chapter 80. 🎉

Why Was the Manga on Hiatus in the First Place?

Now let’s talk about it — why was the manga on hiatus for so long?

If I’m not wrong, the hiatus started in March 2025, and now we’re in October 2026. So yep, that’s around 19 months of waiting. 😅

According to the creator, Yūki Kanamaru, the break was taken to properly prepare the story for its final part and make sure the continuation could be created and published at a healthy pace.

Basically, the main reason was to give the final part more time and attention instead of rushing it.

And honestly, I think that’s a pretty understandable reason for taking a break, especially when you’re working toward the ending of a long-running story.

This isn’t some small manga that started recently and is already reaching its conclusion. The series has been running from 2018, and now we’re finally reaching the final part in 2026.

So I think the author wanted to give the ending a little more freedom — or, you could say, more importance than simply trying to get the chapters out as quickly as possible.

And honestly, I think that’s justified.

Maybe because of that, we can expect a little more from the final part than we normally would.

Of course, that doesn’t make the wait any easier for readers. 😂

But at least now, we know why the manga took so long to return.

What Happened Before the Hiatus? In Chapter 79?

Well, before we move forward, let’s quickly talk about what happened in Chapter 79.

Whatever I’m going to tell you here is just the basic information I got from the chapter summary. I haven’t personally read Chapter 79 yet, so this isn’t my own chapter review. I’m just giving you a quick idea of what happened before the manga went on hiatus.

The Marriage Practical is finally over — officially this time.

Shiori and Minami stayed together as a couple until the end of the practical. Shiori has already moved out of the training dorm, while Minami remains there.

Sachi passes her entrance exam, and Jirō also passes his entrance exam. He briefly celebrates with Akari, but they’re interrupted by a phone call from Sadaharu.

Jirō tells Sadaharu that he and Akari are having trouble finding a place to live, and Sadaharu offers to introduce Jirō to someone who might be able to help them.

But probably the biggest setup from this chapter is that Jirō is planning to properly confess his feelings to Akari now that the entrance exams are over.

And that’s basically where Chapter 79 leaves us.

So, most likely, the final part could finally bring us closer to that confession.

And honestly… after a hiatus this long, that’s one of the things I’m really curious to see. 😅

My Personal Thoughts

Well, if you’re still here, then you’re most likely here because you want to know what I think about all of this. 😅

As I mentioned earlier, I don’t know that much about the manga. I’ve only watched the anime. And to be honest, after finding out that the manga has been on hiatus for almost 19 months, that actually made me even more excited to see what happens next.

Back than I was already thinking about reading the manga when it went on hiatus. And, funny enough, around that same time, Anime Addictive was also basically going through its own hiatus. 😂 So while the manga was taking a break, we were taking a break too.

But yeah… looks like the manga is finally coming back, and it’s entering its final part.

To be honest, I think before the hiatus is completely over—or maybe once the next chapter arrives—I will most likely start reading it myself. And from the next time when ever we cover this series, I’ll hopefully be able to give you a more detailed review in my own style.

But yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to what’s coming next.

I’m especially looking forward to Chapter 80. There are so many things I want to see, especially how the confession is going to happen and what direction the story takes from here.

And, being honest, the anime ended at a point where I believe the manga continued quite a bit further. So I’m also curious to see what I’ve been missing by not reading the manga. 😅

So yeah, let’s see what we get when the manga returns in November.

For international readers, we’ll obviously be getting it later, but I’ll try to get my hands on the Japanese edition with the help of my team members. So let’s see how that goes.

And to be honest, when an author takes this much time before returning to the story, it does make me think about the expectations a little.

Almost 19 months.

That’s a really long time.

And now that we’re finally getting the final part, I do have my expectations a little higher. We already know that the story is entering its conclusion, so I’m really curious to see what new things we’re going to get.

So yeah… I’m looking forward to it.

Let’s see what Chapter 80 brings us. 👀

I guess that’s it for today.
