We finally have a date.

After months of waiting, The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 has finally received its exact premiere date, along with its brand-new third PV.

Finally, We Have a Date

Well, we already covered that part when Season 2 was first announced. We covered the first teaser, which came almost four years ago, and later the second PV, where we learned that the anime was scheduled to release in July 2026.

Later, the broadcast was scheduled for July before production circumstances pushed the series back to October. We already covered that part in detail, so if you want to know more about what happened, you can check out our previous blog here.

Now, the four-year wait is finally over.

The latest PV was released two days ago, and along with it came one of the biggest pieces of news we’ve been waiting for:

The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 will begin broadcasting in Japan on October 7, 2026.

The series will air on AT-X, TOKYO MX, BS NTV, and other Japanese channels, with streaming also beginning on October 7.

So yes—

October 7, 2026.

This time, it’s not just “October 2026.”

We finally have the date.

The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 Is Finally Coming — But Is She Really Alive?

And we got the answer from the second—sorry, third PV.

Well, two days ago, Kadokawa just released the new PV video, along with the release date as well. And it finally gave the answer to what I asked for the last time, and what many people were asking:

Is she alive?

Well, the answer was given, and the answer is yes, she is alive.

In Season 1, she was already dead before even starting the story. And you and me, we all cried for that. We couldn’t believe it.

And despite already being dead, she was still there throughout the entire story. We saw her inside Nagisa.

But when Season 2 was announced with the first PV, like four years ago, we’ve seen that part where she shows herself. And we already knew from the very beginning, up to this point, that the story wasn’t over yet.

Then the second PV came, which made even more people confused—literally more confused than anything—which we already covered. And I literally gave my own reaction, like what I think about it and what I thought about it.

And a simple question was asked by me and many other fans:

Is she alive?

And the answer was finally given in the third PV.

And this time, it’s not like the last time when they launched a poster. It’s not like the second promotional video either.

This time, when the trailer was launched alongside the release date, it was fully shown that she is alive.

It is not her being inside some other character.

It is not from her past.

She is alive.

And with that, many questions also came up, and many questions still haven’t been given an answer yet.

And to answer them, most likely, we need to see Season 2. That’s how we’re going to get those answers.

But one thing is sure:

Season 2 is going to be absolutely something.

Let’s talk about Season 2 and the last PV—what we’ve seen inside there.

What Can We Expect From Season 2 and What Did I See in the Last PV?

Well, the last PV started as simply as it could.

First of all, I am not Japanese, so I don’t know exactly what they are saying. I might be wrong. I am using the auto-translation. This is just a warning: if I don’t understand something correctly, you can correct me in the comments.

So, let’s talk.

The PV started with Siesta herself, then it went to Kimihiko and then the other characters. There were many new characters who were also going to be introduced.

There were many things being talked about, but as much as I understand from the last PV, the third promotional video, which we also call the trailer, there was one simple thing it said:

She is alive.

That was the one thing.

But alongside that, what is going to happen in the next season?

We have the other main characters, like the ones we already know: Charlotte, Kimi, Nagisa, Yui, and others.

And from what I understand from the PV, with the help of the auto-subtitles—well, I really need to learn Japanese, but that’s aside for now—what I understand about it is that the story is going to continue just like the source material does.

And it’s most likely that the next season is going to reveal some of the things that we don’t know about Siesta.

Talking about Siesta, we really don’t know that much about her. Like, we know more about Kimi, Charlotte, and the other characters, but whenever we talk about Siesta, the character which we all love, we don’t know that much about her.

And that is what is going to be revealed.

Most of the story is going to follow how she was alive and what she even is. I mean, no one can just be alive when you should be dead.

And there are still things which we don’t understand about her.

What I understand about it might be wrong. I’ll tell you that. I am not Japanese, so I don’t know exactly what they are saying. Just because I am using the auto-subtitles, that’s how I’m telling it.

But what I understand from the teaser, and what I know about the story and how it is going to continue, is that it will most likely be what I already told you about:

The hidden secrets behind Siesta.

And the story is going to follow, again, as always, Siesta and Kimi.

But this time, maybe Yui is going to have one of the main roles here. Because she was a vessel for something, and what that vessel is, they still need to explain.

And what I think about it from the PV side, it’s kind of ironic, you know? Maybe.

But I might be wrong, so I can’t say anything for sure without knowing it.

But yeah, I gave you the information that I know about it.

And you know what stood out to me the most in the entire PV?

Again, the same problem with what they said—it might be wrong because of the subtitles.

But when Kimi said to Siesta,

“Will you be my assistant?”

That was the part that stood out to me the most, and it was the point I loved the most.

My Personal Thoughts
 

Well, I don’t know what I should say in this section because, throughout the entire blog, I said that it was fully my personal opinion.

But yeah, you guys already know that I love this franchise, and literally a lot. And to be honest, I consider myself a simp.  I already said that in the last blog.

Yep.

After the delay, after the frustration we felt, after everything, after three PVs, after multiple posters, we are finally getting Season 2—with a four-year gap.

But yeah, this time, we’re hoping to see something that we wanted, especially with the hints we’ve been given.

Well, waiting aside, I know that the second season is going to be absolutely something special.
